Every year on 18 July, South Africans and people around the world are encouraged to take action and inspire change in honour of Nelson Mandela’s legacy. At Advanced MFT (AMFT), Mandela Day is not just a moment of reflection, but a call to meaningful action.
This year, in a powerful act of service, Dr Grobler of Bay Urology approached Advanced Health with a heartfelt initiative: to assist patients on the public sector surgical waiting list by providing them with the life-changing care they need, free of charge.
With the collaboration of Dr Schmidt (Anaesthetist) and the support of the Advanced MFT team, five surgeries were successfully performed at our facility on Mandela Day. These procedures were more than just medical interventions; they were acts of hope, dignity, and humanity.
This initiative reflects the true spirit of ubuntu, the belief that “I am because we are.” It demonstrates the power of partnership, compassion, and community when people come together for a greater purpose.
We extend our sincere gratitude to Dr Grobler, Dr Schmidt, and the entire AMFT team who generously gave their time and expertise. Your actions not only changed lives but also reaffirmed what Mandela Day is all about: making a difference through service to others.
Thank you for living the values of care, compassion, and community.
